Anointed for revival

Just as the woman with the alabaster box anointed Jesus for His burial, each day you can anoint yourself and remember that you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

You are dead, hidden with Christ Colossians 3:1-3 KJV
"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."

In our generation, sometimes we focus so much on praying about our temporary needs that we forget the big picture of what God intended for us by giving us eternal life. We look for a revival, instead of being a revival. Revival means to bring back to life. We need a reminder like the Eightfold Anointing to remember that God wants us to die to our earthly mentality and the domination of our flesh over our spirit, and bring us to life again in the eternal realm. We want to be restored to the place of fellowship where Adam was at the beginning of creation, before the Fall. He had a pure relationship with God that was restored through Christ.

Set apart for God

The Eightfold Anointing is a natural exercise that represents the spiritual reality of your being set apart for God and the consecrated life. It is a reminder that you belong to God. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you. You are not your own. You were bought with a price; therefore you glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. You have been set apart to be like Jesus today.

Anointed as a king

You are anointed as a king. When Saul proved himself unworthy to be king, God sent Samuel to find another king to replace him, and the sign that Samuel used to designate David as king was the anointing.

Anointing a king for God 1 Samuel 16:1 NKJV
"Now the LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons."

Anointed as a priest

The Bible says that we will be both kings and priests with Christ. Aaron, as priest, had so much anointing oil poured over his head that it ran all the way down to his feet. God is extravagant about giving you the anointing. Aaron's anointing was only a type of what has come to us through Jesus Christ. Now all of us can serve as priests who are praying for ourselves, our families, and the world. The position of priest carried a tremendous responsibility for holiness. Any infraction of the laws, statutes, and ordinances would meant that God could kill you when you entered the Most Holy Place. Remind yourself of your need for holiness with the anointing before you go in to prayer.

Anointing a priest for God Psalm 133:1-3 KJV
"Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life forevermore."

Anointed for unity

The Bible relates Aaron's anointing to the unity of God's people. When you anoint yourself, recommit yourself to the unity of the body of Christ, including those within your family and church. When you anoint your body every day, you walk out a unified relationship with other Christians. Every part of your body is as essential as every other part, and the same is true for the body of Christ. That takes death to self. Throughout history, beginning with Pentecost, the Church has had moments when it really seemed possible that we could be unified. Azusa Street was one of them. So were the Cane Ridge camp meeting, the Welsh revival, and the Third Great Awakening. You will read about others in My Journey with God. Why is it necessary two thousand years after the resurrection for us to have reconciliation meetings? Why are we so divided? One of the problems is our unwillingness to die to our pride and our accustomed way of doing things and let God have His way.
